Arsenal Making Last Attempt To Get Mesut Ozil To Sign A New Contract

Arsenal are making a last push to keep Mesut Ozil, according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper says Arsene Wenger is still hoping a new round of negotiations will persuade the 29-year-old to stay at the club.

Mesut Ozil has impressed in recent weeks and the Gunners are not giving up hope of persuading the Germany international to pen a new contract.

Manchester United and Barcelona are both said to be interested in Ozil, who is free to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January 1.

The new offer will be closer to the £300,000-per-week Ozil is looking for – but it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old is prepared to sign.

If Ozil does put pen to paper, he will become the highest earner in the club’s history.
